Local firefighters say it's like losing a brother, one of their own died in a crash this weekend.

Family friends say 32-year-old Christopher Clay was a dedicated fireman.

“The firefighter is a unique career. It's like a brotherhood we live together every third day,” Batallion Chief Kevin Doan said, “We lose part of our family when we lose somebody,”

Christopher Clay spent about six and a half years of his life with the Odessa Fire Department.

“Firefighting was part of his life, he loved firefighting and to be on the truck,” Doan said. “We just want his family to know that we loved him and we love them.”

Clay has his two children Tyler and Madisyn Clay.
Anyone wishing to donate can do so at the Odessa Employees’ Credit Union to the Christopher Clay Memorial Fund.
