MIDLAND, TX - In a story we've been following, an apartment complex in Midland says it's not their fault that trash was piling high even covering parking spaces.

The property manager for the Weatherford Ranch Apartments in Midland tells CBS 7 that their trash collection company, Duncan Disposal, had been skipping pick-ups, leaving trash to grow into a giant mound for more than a week.

Management says there has been a lack of service and lack of communication from Duncan Disposal.

A spokesperson for the complex says as of Monday they have entered into a new contract with Duncan Disposal who will pick up trash at least once a week.

CBS 7 is told that Duncan Disposal previously refused to agree to a set collection schedule, and apologized today about the mess it created for residents.

They are expected to be back out on Friday for a free collection for the complex with 300 apartment units.

Residents at the complex began taking pictures after their trash was neglected at the only compactor site at the back of the property. The trash spilled into the parking spaces and furniture was cluttered along the back fence of the property.

Even after the area was cleaned Tuesday afternoon, residents continued to send CBS 7 photos of more trash piling up late into the evening.
