Big Spring, TX - Registering your child for school just got a lot easier. What took some parents an entire day to do, now takes them less than hour.

The old Goliad campus no longer houses students, it now houses the school districts records. Inside is where every parent goes to register their kids for school; something that the school district has never done before.

"Before, if parents had students attending different campuses..they had to go to all of those campuses," Vickie Cheyne, PEIMS Coordinator said.

Now the staff that handled all student registration and records are housed under one roof. It's a move that has made it a lot easier on them and the parents.

"Now they bring it all to one place. We try to get all the info at one time and we'll enter the students into the system," Cheyne said. "We're hoping to save time for parents as well as our staff."

Jeanette Viera registered her two girls today and was pleased with the new process.

"It was pretty easy," she said. "I was in and out in 15 minutes. It's a lot better than having to go to every school."

And Cheyne says she's not the only one.

"Parents that have come have commented about how easy this has been," she said.

The new Student Records and Registration Office is open Monday - Thursday from 8a.m. until 5p.m.
