Man Charged With Manslaughter in Odessa Infant Death 2/27/14
UPDATE: Here is the press release regarding this matter from the Odessa Police:
On 11-27-13, officers responded to the 400 block of Seminole in reference to a medical problem involving a child. Upon arrival, officers found that a six month old infant had died.
Officers notified the Crimes Against Persons, Robbery/Homicide Unit, who responded to the scene. The Ector County Medical Examiner’s office was notified and responded to the scene. The deceased infant was sent to Tarrant County for an autopsy.
Based on the facts and circumstances presented during the investigation, two felony warrants were obtained for the arrest of Caleb Danaris Givens, date of birth 07/02/1993.
On 2-26 at approximately 2207 hours, Givens was arrested for Manslaughter “2nd Degree Felony” and False Identification “Class A Misdemeanor”.
ODESSA - Caleb Givens, 20, has been charged with 2nd Degree Manslaughter in connection with the death of baby last year. The incident took place on Seminole St. in West Odessa.
The Infant's body was found on the four-hundred block of Seminole St. on November 27th, 2013. At the time, the authorities told CBS7 that they were investigating the cause of death.
Givens is being held at the Ector County Detention Center on a $207,500 bond.
