February 23rd, 2014
El Chapo's arrest continues to dominate headlines both in American and Mexico.
CBS 7 traveled to Ojinaga to talk to residents about the surprising arrest. Newspaper headlines exclaimed "Por Fin," or finally.
"I was a surprise, but everything is calm here," said Umberto, who was reading a newspaper.
Erma, who works at a newsstand in a popular square in Ojinaga says everybody couldn't wait to get their hands on the Sunday edition.
"A lot of people are talking about El Chapo, you know."
Most residents say Ojinaga is safe. You're more likely to see families congregating at church than violence, they say.
"We dont participate in that too much, so it's not affecting us," said Jose, who was leaving church with his family as we talked to him.
Still, rumors say that things will heat up soon.
"These are his sons," says Erma as she points to a paper "and they are saying it's not over it's just getting started."
Everyone says they will continue on with their lives, while hoping Mexico can move on from one of the most violent times in their history.
