Closer Look Wrap Up: 2/19/14
Motorists in north Odessa are having to adjust to a new four-way stop sign at Andrews Highway and North Loop 338.We talked with Gene Powell with the Texas Department of Transportation.
He said that next week a contractor will begin a project to make significant improvements to that intersection. Those improvements will include a traffic signal there at north Highway 385. The four-way stop is needed to get people used to that being a controlled intersection and it also provides a measure of safety for the Reece Albert crew members who will be working in the area. He also said that Loop 338 will see some dramatic improvements in the coming months. Later this spring TXDOT will have a project to put in a traffic signal at East Yukon and Loop 338. A third project lets next month that will make Loop 338 four lanes instead of two lanes on the northeast side of Odessa between East Yukon and Highway 385.
From Valentine's Day to educating the masses about heart health, February seems dominated by all things heart. It is also a month dedicated to helping teach parents and kids the importance of dental health. We talked with Doctor Ray Gifford, Managing Dental Director with KOOL smiles. He said many children suffer from cavities and it is easily preventable. He said parents need to encourage their children to eat healthy, and brush their teeth twice a day and floss. He also said you need to make sure you find a dentist that makes the visit enjoyable for your kids.
