Closer Look Wrap Up 2/18/14
After nearly 25 years in office, a beloved Catholic Church leader has retired...and a new bishop has stepped in to take his place in the Diocese of San Angelo. We sat down Bishop Michael Sis. Today was his first visit to Odessa. He said his first three weeks of as bishop have been a whirl wind of activity. He says he supports family values as the core of the Catholic Church. He is very excited to serve in that position.
We talked with Tyler Patton Regional Director of the Better Business Bureau on a new scam making the rounds called the Full Inbox Scam. The BBB warns of a new way thieves are trying to get your personal information. There have been consumers reporting that they have received an email stating, “Your mailbox has exceeded the storage limit. You may not be able to send or receive new emails until you re-evaluate your mailbox. To re-evaluate your mailbox please enter your username and password in the column given below.”
Incidentally, the email also asks for your birth date, which has nothing to do with your email storage limit and everything to do with possible identity theft. Keep in mind that giving out usernames and passwords, often times can provide access to multiple accounts. The BBB reminds you to be cautious before giving any personal information in an email message.
