The Ector County Commissioners' Court will gather a panel of stakeholders to review the operating policies of the Medical Examiner's Office before taking any further action.
The motion passed without objection. The court also voted to review the law regarding the ME's office with hired counsel before meeting with the panel to discuss the office.
ECTOR-The Ector County Commissioners' Court is holding a special meeting this morning to discuss potential action regarding the Ector County Medical Examiner's Office.
The news comes on the heels of a Grand Jury statement saying the Medical Examiner's Office was reckless in not performing an autopsy in the death of a baby, Talvis Redic, who tested positive for cocaine.
District Attorney Bobby Bland told media outlets earlier this month that evidence may have been lost because of the decision not to perform that autopsy.
Since, one of the medical examiners responded saying that the office was following protocol and based the decision on opinions by investigators and medical professionals.
