A cold front moving through the area today will bring cooler temperatures and a round of strong winds to West Texas. A cold front that as of 8:30amCST was situated across the northern Permian Basin to just south of Abilene and moving south. Strong northerly winds will continue behind the front through the late morning and early afternoon. Highs will be in the 60’s and 70’s.
Temperatures will start of cold on Tuesday morning (upper 30’s) but will quickly warm to around 80 or even warmer on Tuesday afternoon. The winds will not be as strong.
Very strong winds will move into the area on Wednesday. Wind direction will be out of the southwest. As such, temperatures will soar into the mid to upper 80’s under the influence of downsloping winds.
Another cold front will move into the area on Thursday. Again, winds will be quite strong with this front. Highs will be in the 60’s again on Thursday and perhaps even get a little colder over the weekend.
