PLEASANT FARMS-The Pleasant Farmers is a newly formed non-profit organization in Pleasant Farms, which is trying to raise enough money to construct a new community park.
Bill Tisdale, the president of the organization, says as the population continues to grow in their small community, it’s time to build a community park large enough for kids and families to have a place to enjoy and hold gatherings at.
A small playground area located behind the Pleasant Farms Community Center is the closest thing to a park that residents in the area will find nearby.
“This isn’t really a park—I mean there’s no restrooms for the kids or anything, there’s not even a tree,” Tisdale said.
Although the organization is still in its preliminary stages of planning, they envision a park having a baseball field, tables for families to sit and relax, gazebos for shade, and a new community center.
“They’d have a safe place to go, a place to spend the afternoon just to play, [and] birthday parties,” Tisdale said.
Many residents are on board—one mother said she would've loved to celebrate her son’s birthday party at the park, if they had one.
“We just have so many more families, so many more children, so they need somewhere to hang out, somewhere to play, somewhere safe.”
In order to make plans to construct a new park a reality, the organization is in need of more support from the community and help fundraising.

Residents of the Pleasant Farms community have recently formed a non-profit organization called The Pleasant Farmers.
The organization was created to improve conditions in their growing community, with the first project being the construction of a new community park and playground.
The President of the organization, Bill Tisdale, says currently there is only one small playground in the community.
Tisdale says they're still in preliminary stages of the park project, and hopes to get more of the community involved.
Last night the group held their first fundraiser for the park fund, and plan to host many more in the near future.
Tonight at 10 we'll take a closer look at the current park's condition, the organization's plan of action, and speak with residents who explain why a new park is desperately needed.
