Midland Police, Crime Stoppers Call on Public for Help Searching for Carjacking Suspect 2/13/14

Midland - A violent carjacking has Midland Police asking for your help to find the man responsible.
It has been nearly a week since the carjacking, now Police are being aggressive trying to find answers.
It happened in quiet Midland neighborhood, when the unthinkable happened to a woman driving.
"She was driving her baby around to put him to sleep. The gentleman approached her acting like he needed help," Sgt. Ben Chavez with Midland Police said.
The man then forced his way into the car, .forcing her to drive him around. They ended up on a county road where he assaulted her, then took off in her car. A Good Samaritan found the woman and dialed 911.
"He took off leaving her and the baby abandoned out there," Sgt. Chavez said. "Luckily the woman was able to identify the suspect through a forensic artist."
Sgt. Ben Chavez and Midland Crime Stoppers have been following the case closely and are calling on the public for help.
"Someone out there knows who this individual is. We're just going to blast it out there so someone can see and help us solve this crime," he said.
He says violent crimes like this don't happen in Midland.
"Midland has a reputation of being friendly and we don't need people like this around our citizens," Sgt. Chavez said.
He says any information is valuable, but more importantly, it will help bring justice to the victim.
The man is described as a short, Hispanic male, with black hair and a thin black mustache.
