Tax season is upon us and millions of Americans are rushing out to get their taxes prepared and filed. But every year thousands find the process isn't so simple and can be fraught with scams and thieves. We talked with Tyler Patton, Regional Director of the Better Business Bureau. He said a red flag to be on the lookout for is any that guarantees a bigger refund. He said it is also important to choose someone reputable and you can look at reviews on the BBB’s website. Also, if a tax preparers sets up a temporary shop, you need to be wary in case you need to get back in touch with them if there was a mistake on your taxes.
It is a small West Texas town with less than two hundred residents, and while its size may not be bustling its namesake has kept it in national headlines on a yearly basis when one particular holiday rolls around.
So what does the small town of valentine have planned to celebrate a day that it was named after?
We sat down with Mercer Black Declerq with the Big Bend Brewing Company. She explained the town of Valentine was named that because it was founded on February 14th. The local post office sees a huge influx of post on Valentine’s Day for people wanting the special cancelation stamp.
