You may remember a song from the mid-eighties called "I Wanna Know What Love Is" but these students weren't even alive yet.
"Who's Foreigner, you know? It like slipped my mind and then we heard ‘I Wanna Know What Love Is’ and ‘Jukebox Hero’ and stuff like that and I was like, Oh Foreigner, you know, remembering my mom and grandma listening to it,” says Junior Rikki Salgado.
The British-American rock band has a special place in their hearts for music education so they hold a contest for high school choirs to win a chance to perform with them on stage.
"One of the reasons why music is so important is because public schools in America is having a lot of budgetary issue. One of the first things that go is music education," says Foreigner Bassist Jeff Pilson.
Big spring high school choir caught the band's attention.
"We kind of switched it up to where we had some parts with beat-boxing so we just figured out a way that would kind of go together and be the song but more nowadays," says Salgado.
"We have the choir help us sell CDs at the show and we donate 1000 dollars to their choir," says Pilson.
"We have funding but it’s not like a big amount like football and stuff," says Salgado.
