Construction Delays At Midkiff And Wadley Leaves Residents Upset 2/4/14
February 4th, 2014
The cones and lane closures on Midkiff and Wadley have left residents frustrated.
“It’s very much a headache. Yesterday, I was going through there and you have to stop and you have to swerve," said one Midland resident.
Many try to avoid this intersection all together and the lane closures add to the mess.
"I try to stay away from it even when there's no construction. It's just bad every day and every night," said another Midland resident.
City crews say weather has hindered their progress.
"They're not making asphalt when it's cold and you can't install it when it's cold either," said David Beard, a City Engineer.
This intersection is known for its accidents which some residents say have increased since the construction. However, David says cones actually make drivers pay attention
"It's a visual key and people pay attention and slowdown," he said.
They expect to open the road next week weather permitting.
