Attitudes Salon Closure Update, Other Salons Helping Out 2/3/14

MIDLAND-Last Friday’s story about a Midland salon which closed its doors after selling countless vouchers for services drew hundreds of comments on our Facebook page. The story also drew questions about Attitude’s Salon’s Manager Art Lopez who also goes by Art Vasquez.
CBS 7 did some research and found that Art Lopez does not have a current cosmetology license under either name on file with the Texas Department of Licensing and Registration.
CBS 7 also reached out to Mr. Lopez before tonight's story aired, who was unable to provide a current license number.
Now the closure of the salon is getting better, after other salons like Joe James Salon and Day Spa stepped up and offered to honor the vouchers.
Owner Joe James told CBS 7 it was all about doing a good deed.
“We all either know or have been touched by someone who has cancer, just seeing that story, I thought let’s just step up and honor these to help people out.”
You may also remember that one of the vouchers from Attitude's Salon was sold to a woman for her neighbor, who is fighting cancer.
Joe James said just today one of his customers bought a $50 gift card for the woman with cancer.
CBS 7 was able to deliver the gift card personally, the woman said she is overwhelmed by all the positive support she has gotten since our first story aired.
