Distracted Driving A Focus In Washington This Week 2/3/14
February 3rd, 2014
Federal lawmakers are meeting this week to discuss ways to combat distracted driving. The most recent statistics show the Permian Basin accounts for roughly 10 percent of fatal wrecks in Texas, while only accounting for two percent of the state’s population, according to MOTRAN. Officials say distracted driving plays a role in some of those crashes. Senator Jay Rockefeller of West Virginia is holding a meeting to “identify new tech solutions,” according to the Midland Reporter Telegram. In the Basin, the city of Pecos is considering a texting while driving ordinance.
