Midland Joins Abilene and San Angelo in Water Partnership 1/29/14
MIDLAND - Early this morning, Mayor Jerry Morales announced Midland's plan to join forces with Abilene and San Angelo in a newly formed West Texas Water Partnership. Morales says this one-of-a-kind coalition will allow the three cities to combine resources, plans and ideas to fulfill the regions long-term water needs.
During this morning's announcement, Abilene Mayor Norm Archibald, San Angelo Mayor Dwain Morrison and Morales all said this partnership is an important step in ensuring that there will be enough water for the future.
Morales says they are still in the beginning stages and are still tossing around ideas. All three mayors did say that they welcome any of the surrounding cities to join the partnership.
Morales says they're thinking outside the box when it comes to obtaining water and that it may even be possible to obtain water from outside of Texas.
Tonight at 5 we'll have more details on where and how this coalition first came about.
