MARFA/PRESIDIO-The Big Bend Regional Hospital District board is moving forward on plans to install one or two social workers in Presidio and Marfa.
According to Hospital District Board Member Laura Brugette, the social worker will help all county residents with medical prescription applications for those who cannot afford them.
The worker will also have a special emphasis on working with the indigent population and helping those in the county who have difficulties scheduling pickups/drop-offs to medical appointments.
“I think we have qualified people who can do this,” Brugette said. “There is a huge need for these types of services, hopefully we can get someone who is bilingual to help people with those difficulties as well.”
