MIDLAND-The body of a man missing since december was found yesterday. Now friends and family of 31-year-old veteran and oilfield worker Gregory Donaghe are waiting for answers regarding his death.
Police are not saying anything yet about cause of death pending an autopsy, but friends we spoke with say Gregory warned them that someone might do something bad to him days before his disappearance.
The body of 31-year-old former marine and oilfield worker Gregory Donaghe was discovered yesterday morning in a field west of the Petroleum Museum -- about a mile away from where he was last seen on the I-20 Wal-Mart camera. He was seen walking across the parking lot and then dissappeared. He was reported missing the following day.
"He warned a bunch of people that something might happen to him,” said one friend in Odessa. “The truth will come out.”
That warning stayed with his basin friends – two we spoke with asked us to disguise their voice, for what they say is fear of retaliation if someone is responsible for his death.
Donaghe’s family tell us he was born out-of-state and was a newcomer to Midland, friends we spoke with say he may have fallen in with the wrong crowd but was a standup guy.
"He was a great guy, calm voice, proud of his country, being a veteran and his family,” another friend said of Donaghe.
Midland police say results of an autopsy are pending.
A vigil was planned for tomorrow gregory to be held at the spot where he was last seen. No word yet on whether they will still meet.
CBS 7 spoke with Donaghe’s sister, Heather, who said the family does not believe this was a suicide and is anxious to hear the results of the autopsy.
