Pecos – A man accused of making threats on West Texas law enforcement via the internet received a 24 month prison sentence in federal prison this afternoon.
Jacob Esparza, also known as “El Diablo” made graphic threats on the public forum “Topix” toward Midland and Fort Stockton law enforcement and their families. Public bomb threats were also made.
Sergeant Ben Chavez of the Midland Police Department was the only officer El Diablo singled out. He gave his witness statement today in court.
"My wife and children were afraid to leave the house. i think the most impacting thing was that I actually had to train all my children on our firearms we have at the house and how to use them in case we were attacked when we were at home," Chavez tells CBS 7 News.
Chavez told Esparza in court that he holds no grudge against the man and that he forgave him long ago.
