KBST: Fatal Six-Car Pile-Up on I-20 in Martin County 1/20/14
UPDATE: The number of people transported to area hospitals after a six-vehicle pile-up in Martin County has risen to ten people.
All ten, who were transported to Midland Memorial Hospital, have sustained what authorities call "non-life-threatening" injuries.
A Hispanic male driving a white pick-up truck was pronounced dead at the scene.
Traffic is currently being diverted onto the eastbound service road at mile marker 158. The interstate is expected to remain closed for several hours until DPS finishes clean-up and investigation
UPDATE: Big Spring Fire Chief Craig Ferguson tells us that a total of seven people have been transported to area hospitals following a large pile-up on I-20 eastbound near mile marker 158.
Five people were transported by Big Spring EMT's and an additional two were transported by Martin County ambulances.
The conditions of those transported is not yet known. One person was declared dead at the scene.
MARTIN COUNTY - Kbest 95.7 reports that a six-vehicle pile-up near mile marker 158 on I-20 eastbound has killed one person.
We do not yet have details on any other injuries or a cause of the accident, but I-20 eastbound is experiencing significant delays due to this accident and bridge maintenance.
