MIDLAND-The Petroleum Museum in Midland is looking to renovate and update its geology and oil departments.
Kathy Shannon, the Executive Director of the Museum, says they’ve been able to raise $16.2-million of their $18-million goal for the renovations.
During last weeks city council meeting, the board approved to raise an initial $200,000-dollar challenge grant to $500,000-dollars to help with the costs of the Museum’s renovations. In order for the Museum to receive the grant it will need to match it.
Officials say they hope to seek the help of the community by participating in future fundraiser events or by making a donation.
Shannon says they hope to have the renovations completed by their 40th Anniversary in the fall of 2015.
Tonight at 6 we’ll hear more from Shannon and why these renovations are greatly needed.
