MIDLAND-Texas Tech Physicians of the Permian Basin are in the process of starting up several different types of support groups for the community.
The groups will be held free of charge and will serve women dealing with postpartum depression, adolescents and teens that self-mutilate, and patients dealing with terminal cancer.
Just recently, the center hired a new social worker that will be conducting these groups.
"I know for the patients, just the fact of having other peers there that are going through the same struggles, and the same challenges, itís nice just to have someone that understands," said Amber Chavez, the facilityís new social worker.
The Helping Hand Cancer Support Group will be the first of the groups to kick off.
Classes will begin Tuesday January 21st at noon in room 210B at the Texas Tech facility in Midland.
