Seven different candidates are vying for a U.S Senate Seat representing the Lone Star State. Senator John Cornyn who has been in office for twelve years currently holds the seat. With just under two months before the primary, things are heating up. We sat down with Ken Cope one of the candidates for the U.S Senate Seat. This is Cope’s first run into politics. He is a retired Army Lieutenant General. He said his grandchildren inspired him to run and to do something with the frustration that so many people feel with the current government. Heroin use is on the rise across the country and we talked with Michelle Savage the director at the Palmer Drug Abuse Program on if the Permian Basin is seeing the same trends. She explained that they have seen more people with a heroin addiction in the Basin. She said this drug is highly addictive and symptoms include a disheveled look. She said there is help available and you know some one suffering from an addiction call their office at 432-685-3645.
A new study shows that more kids are using social media than adults. We talked with Levi Stone, Chief Nursing Officer at Odessa Regional Medical Center and said as a parent you need to set a good example for online use. He said you also need to monitor all online behavior from Faceboook to text messaging. He said you should send the message that you are trying to keep your kids safe not that you are invading their privacy.
