Tech QB Brewer Announces He Will Transfer after Spring Semester 1/15/14
Texas Tech red-shirt sophomore quarterback Michael Brewer announced today he is transferring out of the program.
Brewer will graduate from Tech in May and then will be allowed to change schools without suffering any transfer penalties.
This means he can go to the school of his choice while keeping his 2-years of NCAA eligibility.
This solidifies for the Red Raiders that Davis Webb is their man heading into spring practice and, presumably, next season.
Brewer released a statement through the Tech athletic department:
”I am honored to receive my degree from Texas Tech and will always call this university home. I will never forget the friendships and memories I have made here at Texas Tech. Lubbock has been nothing but great to me and my family and we will always appreciate that. Wherever I may go, I hope our fans will respect the person and player that I am.
“The decision to transfer was well thought out by my family and myself and was one of the toughest of my life. I feel it’s the right decision for me moving forward. As always, Guns Up!”
Brewer is now the third quarterback to leave the program this year. In December Baker Mayfield announced he would transfer and enroll at Oklahoma this spring, while before that red-shirt freshman Clayton Nicholas announced through social media his intention to leave the program after the season.
