ODESSA-The city had the chance tonight to appoint people to an advisory committee to keep watch over animal control. However, Odessa City Council members did not make any appointments.
City leaders tell us they are speaking with state officials to better understand the role of the committee.
“What the city is doing is contacting those committee members to see if they still want to serve and we’re going back to the state to try and get a guideline of what the committee’s goal is,” said Odessa City Spokesperson Andrea Goodson.
One citizen presented the council with a copy of a petition, which has gained more than 1,000 signatures from Odessans, asking for changes at the shelter.
City Council member Barbara Graff stayed after the meeting to listen to about 20 people who showed up to express concerns about the operations at the shelter.
