Odessa Residents Search For 14-Year-Old Girl 01/13/14
January 13, 2014
Odessa - A 14-year-old girl missing since last Monday has a group of Odessa parents rallying together to hang signs and spread the word on social media that they need help finding her. Authorities have classified this case as a runaway child rather than a missing child, which limits their abilities to search for her. However family and friends are not satisfied and are now reaching outside of the Permian basin to Austin and the help of private investigators.
“It’s been a nightmare, I don’t sleep, I always have the what if she is hurt somewhere feeling, it’s awful,” said Jennifer’s Mother Lori Creekmore.
14-year-old Jennifer Murray was last seen at a friend’s house last Monday. Now family and friends are armed with hundreds of flyers, plastering them all over town in hopes of getting some answers.
“We are trying to do all we can do to let people know that we need her home,” said Jennifer’s Aunt Shirley Drugan.
But because authorities have labeled Jennifer as a runaway – Family members are seeking help from a non-profit organization in Austin that helps find missing and runaway children.
“We consider every one of these cases a race between us and evil, who can get to that child first. The reason why we say that is because in today’s society child trafficking is a growing problem for America,” said Founder of The Center for Search and Investigation for missing children Chuck Foreman.
Family members of Jennifer say they can’t just sit back and wait for answers from someone else. They will continue handing out flyers all over the town until Jennifer returns home safe and sound.
“The only thing that our family can do is to post this on Facebook and to take flyers to our local businesses and reach out to our community. Please help this family bring their child home,” said Jennifer’s Aunt Shelia Rose.
Jennifer is a student at New Tech High School in Odessa, since she has gone missing family members have heard that she could be anywhere from Abilene to New Mexico. If you have any information on Jennifer’s whereabouts you are asked to contact the Ector County Sheriffs Office at 335 – 3050.
