The Rineharts have owned the land for generations. Now, they are concerned due to the sewer water that was running on their property.
"They need to do something about it," said James Rinehart.
They say the problem has been going on for years The black sludge began running again around Christmas and was finally turned off on Friday.
"I juust want to see them clean it up, get their act right and do the right thing," he said.
The Rineharts say the sewer water runs into through here and into a lake. Now, they are worried about its effects on the land and the wildlife.
"We have hogs, cougars, cranes," he said.
City officials say the leak was caused from sewer backups from a nearby prison. They showed CBS 7 debris and blankets that get flushed into the sewers, which ultimately back up and cause leaks. Now, they will monitor the pipe on a regular basis.
"Our goal is to be out there once a week and stay ahead of the game," said Johnny Womack of Public Works.
The city will investigate the leak today and clean up the land if necessary.
"If it's there we'll go and clean it up and maintain it. I need to visit with staff about that," he said.
