A Little Warmer Today 1/8/14
Wednesday Weather Update
Greg Morgan – Chief Meteorologist
Extra clouds have started to move into the region today. There will be periods of sunshine and periods of mostly cloudy skies and everything in between. This will make high temperature forecasting tough today. However, the general rule of thumb will be a range of upper 50’s to mid 60’s for the area. Winds will shift to the west this afternoon and around to the north this evening as our next cold front moves through. The front will pack winds of 10-20mph and some colder air will surge south into the region. Overnight lows will drop into the mid 20’s. With the winds, wind chill values could drop into the teens on Thursday morning.
Look for mostly cloudy skies on Thursday. While the front will not bring an extensive amount of cold air, temperatures will likely run 4 or 5 degrees cooler on Thursday than on Wednesday.
An upper level disturbance will give us a grazing blow on Friday. While I’d like to see the track of the storm run a little further south, the chance of rain being bumped to around 40% seems warranted. Precipitation that falls on Friday will be in the form of rain showers. Temperatures will be too warm to worry about any type of frozen precip event.
Temperatures will warm into the 60’s and even 70’s this weekend. Another cold front is due early next week.
