Midland Police tell us that about one third of the accidents that resulted in fatalities this year in the city limits, were motorcycle accidents. Although it is state law that not all motorcycle drivers must wear a helmet, police tell us risks decrease for a driver while wearing one.
Center for Disease Control and Prevention Website says according to CDC Director Dr. Thomas Frieden, “Our role is to identify ways to prevent injury and death and rigorously check what works and what does not work. For motorcycle safety, the research shows that universal helmet laws are the most effective way to reduce the number of deaths and traumatic brain injuries that result from crashes.”
