Odessa Police are looking for a man who has five felony warrants out for his arrest.
According to the Odessa Police Department, officers responded to a stolen vehicle report on Dec. 25 at the Super Inn and Suites on Highway 80. While officers were on scene, the stolen vehicle was found at an apartment complex on Oakwood.
When officers arrived, they located a suspect fleeing the stolen vehicle. The suspect took off through the apartment complex, through an open field and then into a residential neighborhood where officers eventually caught him.
The suspect was identified as 23-year-old Uriel Loya. Officers searched Loya and found cocaine in his pockets. Loya then told officers that he had swallowed several grams of narcotics and was transported to Medical Center Hospital Emergency Room.
An hour later Loya was unhandcuffed after asking to use the restroom. When he was unrestrained, he jumped off the hospital bed, took off running, and after a brief chase he was caught by officers near the OB/GYN room.
Medical personnel advised officers that Loya would be staying at the hospital for an undetermined amount of time to receive medical treatment. As a result, Loya was released and it was decided that warrants would be obtained for his arrest. The following five felony warrants have since been obtained for Loya:
1) Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle "SJF"
2) Evading with One Prior Conviction "SJF"
3) Possession of Cocaine "F3"
4) Tampering with Physical Evidence "F3"
5) Escape "F3"
