For some people, New Years Eve means ringing in the New Year with fireworks.
However, fire officials want to urge people to be very careful when popping fireworks.
Although there may not be a burn ban in place for many counties, it doesnít mean that itís not dry.
Fire officials say it is still very dry. They encourage people not to pop fireworks where there is overgrown grass.
Another reminder, it is illegal to pop fireworks in city limits. If caught popping fireworks in the city limits, you can face a $500 fine.
Several west Texas counties do have burn bans in place. Those include: Ward, Winkler Upton and Crane counties. It is prohibited to possess and pop fireworks anywhere in those counties.
