Small Improvement for Schumacher After 2nd Surgery 12/31/13
GRENOBLE, France - There's better news today on the condition of Formula 1 champion Michael Schumacher (SHOO'-mah-kur), who suffered serious head injuries while skiing in the French Alps on Sunday.
Doctors in France say the 44-year-old is showing small, but "surprising" signs of improvement following a second surgery. But doctors say they still can't offer insight into his prognosis.
Schumacher was skiing with his son when he fell and struck a rock.
The doctor in charge of the hospital's intensive care unit says, "The coming hours are crucial."
