Ward County To Kick In $200,000 for Hospital Shortfall 12/30/13

WARD CO.-Ward County is kicking in additional funding to keep the county's hospital on budget.
Ward Memorial Hospital went over budget by about $200,000 just before the end of the year.
County Judge Greg Holly says part of the reason is new software for required electronic medical records (EMR).
Holly says hospital officials also point to a lack of revenue caused by a shortage of providers for the budget shortfall. Currently, the hospital has only one doctor on staff, resulting in a low number of admissions.
“We did a major transfer to Electronic Medical Records and that was quite a challenge,” Holly said.
