Feds Announces Test Sites for Drone Aircraft 12/30/13
LAS VEGAS - It may still be a few years before the government comes up with standards for commercial use of drone aircraft. But in the meantime, a half dozen states have been selected to host research facilities for the drones.
Nevada Sen. Harry Reid calls it a "huge opportunity" for the economy of his state. New York, Texas and North Dakota were also selected, along with Virginia and Alaska.
Drones have been mainly used by the military, but governments, businesses, farmers and others are making plans to join the market. Many universities are starting or expanding drone programs.
