The Roybal family has been in West Texas for a little over a month after their home burned down in New Mexico. Now, for a second time, they are left with nothing.
The Roybal family is devastated but they are happy to be alive.
"If I didn't have it on, we lost it," says Robert Roybal.
Everything from keepsakes, clothes, and paperwork: gone.
"Everything else is pretty much ashes."
One thing that was saved: the family dog, Cain, who was rescued and resuscitated by Midland firefighters.
"They didn't even see him when they first came in. He didn't bark or nothing. But one of the firemen said that he turned around and he was just watching them."
Once the blaze was tamed and Cain was taken to the vet, the Roybals got the chance to assess the damage.
Their entire life savings, up in flames and soaked in water.
Even Robertís military discharge papers and dog tags were destroyed.
So what's next for this family?
"It's just pretty much up in the wind. I'm just glad we have family down here."
But the one saving grace?
"I'm just glad everyone is ok and the dog, Cain, pulls through and then we just start from scratch."
According to the family's vet, Cain will hopefully be able to come home Monday.
They want to monitor him over the weekend because he suffered brain damage.
