Howard County Volunteer Fire Chief Says Radio Tower Needs To Be Replaced Before Grass Fire Season 12/27/13

Howard County, Tx
Howard County Volunteer Fire Chief Tommy Sullivan says their radio tower, which collapsed during a winter storm in November, needs to be replaced. Currently, they are using The Big Spring Fire Departmentís frequency. Sullivan says thatís fine as a temporary fix, but so many groups using one frequency cold pose problems early next year. He expects to see many grass fires in 2014.
"It's not if we're going to see them, we are going to see them. We've had nine major fires going at the same time(before) and with that, there's no way that we can operate on the same channel as Big Spring," Sullivan said.
