Auburn's Malzahn Honored 12/23/13
AUBURN, Ala. - Auburn's Gus Malzahn has been named The Associated Press national coach of the year after taking the program from one of its worst seasons to the national championship game.
Malzahn received 33 votes from AP Top 25 college football poll voters to beat out Duke's David Cutcliffe. Cutcliffe received 17 votes after leading Duke to its first 10-win season. Florida State's Jimbo Fisher and Michigan State's Mark Dantonio each received three votes.
Malzahn was masterful in taking a team that went 3-9 in 2012 without an SEC win, to 12-1 this season which included the conference title.
