December 18, 2013
CAIRO - Egypt's top prosecutor is referring Mohammed Morsi to trial.
The ousted Islamist president is accused of conspiring with the Palestinian group Hamas and with Lebanon's Hezbollah (hez-BUH'-lah), as well as others, to carry out a campaign of violence aimed at destabilizing his country after he was removed from power.
Prosecutors say that while he was president, Morsi and his aides revealed state secrets to the militant groups and to Iran's Revolutionary Guard.
