Man Sentenced for Role in Texas Bank Robberies 12/16/13
LUBBOCK, Texas - A 30-year-old man has been sentenced to more than 11 years in prison for serving as the getaway driver in two West Texas bank robberies.
Federal prosecutors say Gabriel Tenorio was sentenced Friday in Lubbock. He had been in custody since his June arrest and pleaded guilty in August to charges that included aggravated bank robbery.
Prosecutors say Tenorio and 44-year-old Russell Eugene Heath robbed a Lubbock bank in May and an Amarillo bank later that month. In each instance an armed Heath entered the bank, jumped the counter and took money from teller drawers.
Heath was arrested in August in the Southern California border town of Calexico. He pleaded guilty in November to aggravated bank robbery and other charges. A sentencing date has not been scheduled for Heath.
