Sunny And Warmer Today 12/16/13
Monday Weather Update
Greg Morgan Ė Chief Meteorologist
A warming trend is expected to continue through much of the week as high pressure takes control of the weather pattern. Look for sunny skies today. Highs will be in the mid 60ís. Winds will be out of the southwest at 5-10mph.
Clear skies and calmer winds will prevail tonight, leading to a drop in temperatures. Look for overnight temperatures to drop into the lower 30ís. However, just like today, the temperature will rebound nicely in the afternoon.
This overall pattern will continue through Thursday.
By Friday, a series of weather disturbances will begin to impact the area. There will be two major concerns. The first is a cut off upper level low sitting over southern California. This storm will drift into the area this weekend. The second concern is a cold front moving through the Plains States. This will drop colder air into the region. The combo of the two systems will produce a messy forecast if one is in sync with the other. However, as of right now, it appears that the upper low will arrive first, allowing a chance of rain to return to the forecast on Friday and Saturday. The coldest air will stay to the north until Sunday. However, if the cold air speeds up or the rain slows down, a wintry mix canít be ruled out for the late part of the weekend. In any case, expect much cooler temperatures this weekend, with at least a chance of rain on Friday and Saturday.
