One West Texas town's firefighters have a new home to hang their hats. It's a project that's been over a year in the making.
The Andrews Fire Department proudly showed off their new two million dollar station and ladder truck to the public today.
It was a family affair at today's opening ceremony. The Andrews fire department opened the doors to the public to come see their new facility.
The two million dollar station features a state of the art training room with a smart board, a kitchen, a museum, and room enough for all trucks and auxiliary vehicles.
“We got all of our trucks together now. We had trucks in three different places and now we got them all together,” says Captain Vernon Hobbs.
Another highlight of today's open house was the new ladder truck.
“The fact that we have this new ladder truck because we’re getting all these new high rise hotels and things and I think that will be a big asset,” says visitor and long-time resident Patsy Clark, “I just feel very blessed that our firefighters have a facility like this. They do an amazing job and they give selflessly their time and energy to save lives.”
