Chance Of Rain Today 12/12/13
Thursday Weather Update
Greg Morgan Ė Chief Meteorologist
A cold day is still expected across West Texas. After starting off in the lower to mid 20ís, clouds will increase across the region this afternoon. This will keep temperatures from warming much. Look for highs only in the lower to mid 40ís across West Texas.
An upper level low pressure system moving across Baja, Mexico today will force an increase in mid and upper level lift across West Texas this evening and overnight. While moisture isnít overly impressive in the lower levels, a 20-30% chance of rain will be noted from the afternoon through tomorrow morning.
Once the storm passes by, rain will end from west to east Friday morning. Strong westerly winds will increase across the region. This westerly down sloping wind will dislodge the colder air and force temperatures into the 60ís on Friday afternoon.
Another cold front will move into the area on Friday night. This front will be of pacific origin and will not be like the last couple of arctic fronts that have brought big winter storms to the area. However, a drop in temperature can be expected on Saturday. Look for highs in the 40ís and 50ís over the weekend.
High pressure will build into the area behind the front on Saturday. Expect warmer temperatures and sunny skies on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
