Midland - It's a story you saw first here on CBS 7, a family needing to make important medical decisions for their son in a coma thousands of miles away, but didn't have the money to do so.
Now Cecilia and Pablo Reyes Sr. are on their way to Hawaii to be by their son, Pablo Jr.’s side.
After our story about the Reyes family ran yesterday, west Texas showed up in a big way.
Pablo Jr’s brothers Simon and Andres Reyes are all smiles today.
"Things are looking up right now," Andres said. "My parents didn't want to talk to us, they just wanted to get on the plane."
The brothers just sent their parents off to Hawaii, to see their brother, an Army veteran in a coma.
Pablo Jr. suffered a brain hemorrhage last week and has been in a coma ever since.
"They're on their way, hopefully everything goes good," Andres said. "We thought we were going to have to do everything on our own, but God is big. He helped us out."
An anonymous donor felt compelled to help last night; a phone call later, Mr. and Mrs. Reyes had a flight booked to Hawaii.
"I just told them get ready and I'll take y'all," Andres said.
Andres says his phone has been ringing off the hook with more people wanting to help.
“It's a great help for our family and brother," he said.
What started as a hopeless situation less than 24 hours ago, has turned out to be their family's biggest blessing.
Anyone who wishes to make a donation to help send Cecilia and Pablo Sr. out to be with their son in Hawaii, can visit any Complex Community Federal Credit Union, and ask to make a donation for the benefit of Pablo Reyes Jr.
