Andrews – Andrews ISD school board members have decided to take no action on a measure that would further extend the proximity businesses and restaurants can sell alcohol in proximity to schools.
After doing research, school board members felt that Andrews was too small to successfully enact the measure.
The Andrews city council enacted a state-allowed ordinance preventing alcohol from being sold within 300 feet of schools, churches, daycare facilities and hospitals.
The law also enables the school board to pass a resolution that would go before the city council to possibly further extend the distance to 1,000 feet from schools.
