Odessa – Ector County ISD is taking a proactive approach to bringing up the state approval ratings of 21 of their campuses.
A group of five independent monitors from the Texas Education Agency will be looking at every schools improvement plan and check their progress of implementing those plans.
The monitors are all retired educators. Their main task is to make sure schools are following the rules of their improvement plans when the schools fail to meet the states accountability standards.
ECISD brought on the monitors voluntarily. The TEA doesn’t require a school district to bring on monitors until they’ve failed to meet state standards several years in a row.
