Ward Co. Deputy Shoots Fleeing Wanted Suspect, Texas Rangers Investigating 12/2/13

Monahans -A Ward County Sheriff's Deputy shot a man suspected of stealing a vehicle.
Ward County Sheriff's office says yesterday at 8:18 am a Ward County Sheriff's Deputy located a stolen tractor trailer owned by Moore Transport of Monahans.
As the deputy approached the stolen trailer, he noticed the suspect, 32-year-old David Wayne Schroder of Monahans, inside the trailer.
The Deputy then fired shots at Schroder as he attempted to flee the scene in a pickup truck, which was owned by an employee of Itero Energy.
Schroder fled the scene in the stolen vehicle, but was caught a short time later by the Monahans Police Department.
Schroder was then transported to both Ward Memorial Hospital and Medical Center Hospital for treatment of a gun shot wound.
He has now been treated and released and remains in custody at the Ward County Jail.
According to the Ward County Sheriff's Office, Schroder was wanted on several other warrants out of Ward Co.
The suspect was transported to Medical Center Hospital, but has been released and is now in custody.
Texas Rangers are investigating the incident.
