Sunny And Warm Today 12/2/13
Monday Weather Update
Greg Morgan Ė Chief Meteorologist
Sunny skies will prevail across West Texas today. Winds will pick up a bit, out of the west at 10-20mph with a few higher gusts. Highs will climb into the 70ís and even a few 80ís.
Sunny skies and much stronger winds are expected on Tuesday. Highs will again be in the 70ís and 80ís. However, the winds will be out of the west at 20-30mph with higher gusts.
Highs will reach into the 70ís for most on Wednesday but with some changes. Winds will be breezy to say the least, but with extra clouds in the offing, I suspect the winds will not be as strong as Tuesday.
The clouds on Wednesday will be the result of the first disturbance associated with a much larger storm system moving overhead. By Thursday, this storm system and a strong cold front will converge on the region. Expect highs to be in the 30ís and 40ís across West Texas on Thursday. Rain is expected to develop along and behind the cold front as it moves through the region.
As the atmosphere cools behind the front, rain will transition to sleet and then snow overnight Thursday, into Friday morning. Iíd expect accumulations to be rather light but canít rule out a few isolated spots seeing enough to warrant advisories. We will continue to monitor this.
Snow will come to an end on Friday. However, a much colder forecast is in store for the area this weekend. Highs will only reach the 30ís and 40ís and lows will be in the teenís and 20ís.
