10 Year-Old Boy Helps Those Fighting Hunger One Letter at a Time 11/19/13
CBS 7 News
Helping those in need of food in not only a fight for adults. One young student has taken it upon himself to make a difference in his community. Ten year-old, Garrett Whitehill, saw this suffering and decided he wanted to start a drive of his own. He’s been handing out letters in his neighborhood asking for cans or donations this week.
He says he wants everyone to be able to eat for Thanksgiving and that donating $1 can buy four cans of food. Garrett’s mother, Marcie, says it warms her heart when she watches him pray every night for the homeless.
To help, you can drop off cans at the drop off sites listed below.
To make a credit card donation, contact Rosie at West Texas Food Bank at 432-580-6500 and tell her it’s for Garrett Whitehills food drive.
