Food to Kids Program Expanding to Midland Because of Need 11/19/13
CBS 7 News
The Food to Kids program is a four and a half year old program that sends kids in need home with food for the weekend.
Food to Kids started in Odessa by three organizations including the West Texas Food Bank and is quickly spreading throughout the Permian Basin because of need.
The need is so great that Libby Campbell with the WTFB says they're trying to raise money to build another facility in Midland.
Because of the booming population and economy, some are falling behind and leaving children food insecure, which means they don't know where their next meal will come from according to Campbell.
Campbell says there are over 80 food drives that operate out of the West Texas Food Bank that go between midland and Odessa. It's just another reason why the need for a new facility in midland is necessary.
